Roads closed, subway stations shuttered and New York City ground to a near halt as a powerful winter storm battered the East Coast over the weekend.
But the blizzard that dumped more than 20 inches of powder on the city couldn't thwart revelers in Times Square, who celebrated with a giant snowball fight.
Video captured Saturday night shows a large group of people hurling snowballs at one another under the neon lights of Times Square as the snow continued to pour down.
It was the second-biggest snowfall on record in New York City, just a tenth of an inch shy of the record of 26.9 inches in 2006.
