Numerous cars in the wrecking yard were fully engulfed in flames.
A fire broke out in a wrecking yard near Monrovia, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said Monday evening.
The fire was reported in the 2400 block of Citrus View Avenue in unincorporated Monrovia.
NewsChopper4 flew over the scene, and as many as 40 cars in the wrecking yard could be seen completely engulfed in flames.
Fire fighters were still working to extinguish the flames as of 7:45 p.m.
Irwindale police said homes on Alice Rodriguez Circle were evacuated as a precaution.
