COVINA (CBSLA.com) — Thousands of American flags were on display at a middle school in Covina Wednesday in honor of Veterans Day.
At 8 a.m., the public will have access to walk through 2,000 flags while visiting The Field of Valor, which is held on the field at Sierra Vista Middle School to raise money and honor veterans.
“People are coming out here and recognizing the young men and women,” said veteran Richard Jett. “It’s a little emotional sometimes. They’re thanking those who have served to protect our country.”
Most of the flags are sponsored by groups or individuals.
Last year, the Field of Valor raised more than $50,000 to help veterans, active duty soldiers and their families.
A ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. at the middle school.
The Covina Rotary Club has hosted the annual observance since 2012.
