Police have released surveillance video of two suspects wanted in connection with the death of a man last week during an armed robbery in a Brooklyn deli.
Police say they entered the Deli Grocery And Grill on Remsen Avenue, near Church Avenue, in East Flatbush on October 27 just before 9:30 p.m.
One suspect, armed with a gun, allegedly approached the counter and demanded money. That's when investigators say he turned and shot a 32-year-old customer.
"Damion Francis, who was a customer in the store, intercedes and tries to calm the situation down. When he does that, the man in the red hooded sweatshirt points his firearm at Mr. Francis, pulls the trigger, and strikes him in the chest," said Inspector Michael Baldassano of the NYPD.
"It could have been happened to any one of us because most of the time, nine out of 10 of us see something happening with somebody and we try to say, hey, you know, take it easy."
Francis was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The suspect is described as being 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds. He was wearing a red hoodie and gray pants.
A second suspect is described as being 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds. He was wearing a black hoodie.
