The man was staying with his grandmother after being recently released from prison, authorities said.
A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged killing of his grandmother, whose body was found inside a burned Palmdale home, sheriff’s officials confirmed Monday.
Richard Settle was recently released from prison, according to online records, and been staying with his grandmother.
The 69-year-old victim, who has not yet been identified, was found dead inside her mobile home which had caught fire on Friday.
The victim was found after a fire was reported by a maintenance worker who saw smoke and flames, and notified management to call 911.
The fire lead to a death investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives.
Animal Control also responded to the fire where the victim's dogs and birds perished in the fire.
The district attorney was expected to receive the case Tuesday.
