Prepare yourself for an afternoon of fuzzy kitten cuddles tomorrow, courtesy of Uber.
On Thursday, Uber drivers will be delivering kittens from three local shelters for playtime visits at homes and offices across Los Angeles and Orange counties. For a mere $30 "snuggle fee," you'll get to spend 15 blissed-out minutes with two kittens. Proceeds from SoCal's first-ever #UBERkittens visits will go towards the shelters and if you find yourself particularly smitten, you can even adopt one of the cats at a later date. And, just in case you forgot to check your calendar, tomorrow happens to be National Cat Day, so how could you not order up a visit?
To get a special visit from two new feline friends tomorrow, just open the Uber app between the hours of 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and request the “KITTENS” option. Then, depending on availability, two kittens will be brought to your house or workplace for a 15 minute cuddle sesh. A representative from one of the shelters, which include Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats, the Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals L.A., and Heaven on Earth Society for Animals—will join the cats during the visit.
Just be sure to have a dedicated enclosed space—free of other animals—before the kittens arrive. And if you work in an office, make sure to check with the boss and the building to make sure they're cool with it and that nobody nearby is allergic.
All of the visiting kittens will be available for adoption. And while you can't adopt the kittens on the spot, you can call dibs on one and go visit it at the shelter later to adopt it. If you're lucky, you may even get a special visit from the local feline celebrity, Nala Cat, who most likely has more Instagram followers than you.
While the availability is limited, Uber says they will do their best to deliver the kitten love around L.A. and Orange counties. While this is the first time #UberKITTENS to the area, they have done it in other cities before.
